
Follow the instructions in form V355/5 on how to fill in form V55/5 to register a used vehicle for the first time. If you are registering a previously used vehicle, including used imports for the first time in the UK you will need to apply for a first vehicle tax and registration of a used motor vehicle (V55/5). You can also do this by post using form V317 to transfer or retain a vehicle registration number. You can apply to transfer or retain a private registration number online or you can keep a registration number or put a registration number on another vehicle online. Alternatively, you can apply by post using an application for a driver digital tachograph smart card (D777B). You can apply online for your first driver digital tachograph card, renew a card (if its expiring within 90 days) or replace a lost or stolen card. By using this service, you can expect your driving licence to be issued within 5 days. Check if you are eligible to use this service. We do not send application packs to addresses outside of Great Britain.
